Jake on WIRED Science
Jake von Slatt — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 12:30
Last year I had the privilege of taping a segment for WIRED Science with Chris Hardwick. As far as I know the piece never aired ("not sciencey enough" I heard through the grapevine! ;-) ) but it's finally turned up on the WIRED Science website.
There is a larger version of the video on the WIRED Science website here.

WIRED Science
TJ William — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 14:45Jake... great job on the interview! Having been interviewed myself on tv on different occasions, it can be nerve racking. Especially when you have an interviewer like -- I think his name was Chris? With respect, he seemed a little difficult in the way he went about conducting the interview. I know it is nature to rush but when it is recorded and not live, they could have always edited some content out. Funny enough... Live tv - was actually easier for me than prerecorded segments.
At any rate. You were great. A natural teacher. Very well spoken and at just the right speed.
Congrats on the exposure and on nailing the interview.
Oh no! Chris was great! what
Jake von Slatt — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 14:50Oh no! Chris was great! what you see here was heavily edited, we went through several takes at each stage and Chris did a wonderful job coaching me through it and getting me to relax.
Excellent. That is good to
TJ William — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 16:19Excellent. That is good to hear. Indeed.
Wow! Great segment! Too bad
Datamancer — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 13:32Wow! Great segment! Too bad they didn't use your Jack-the-Ripper flying-V joke.

It went something like
Jake von Slatt — Fri, 09/05/2008 - 14:18It went something like this:
Chris: So Jake, do you think that this was the sort of guitar Jack The Ripper would have played on stage after a night of murdering prostitutes?
Jake: Chris, I think Jack was more of a flying "V" kind of guy.
Chris: That's right! This was, after all, the '80s we're talking about. The 1880s!
